About the Artist:
Award winning watercolorist, Caroline Doucette is represented by the Northlight Gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine. Both her mother and grandmother were artists, and from the age of four Caroline received guidance in perspective drawing from her mother who also taught her the fundamentals of composition through the years.
She studied at Riviera College in Nashua, New Hampshire and with watercolorists Elise Kohl and Kay Kandra. Caroline has discovered through experimentation that working with a limited color palette of red, blue, yellow, cool, and warm, best suits her working methods and allows her to keep her colors vivid. The results are strong contrast, clean reach colors and depth--allowing the viewer "to feel the leaf curling away, the soft, fuzziness of the petal or the crunch under foot."
Caroline is a member of many professional affiliations and exhibited in numerous group and solo shows and juried competitions. She was published in the summer 1996 issue of Watercolor Magazine and her flag painting "To Life" appears in Splash 5: Best of Watercolor Glory of Color," published May 1998.
